Allievo di Piero Farulli, viola del leggendario Quartetto Italiano e, più tardi, di Mazumi Tanamura e Nobuko Imai, è uno dei conosciuti violisti in Italia e all’estero. Membro dell'Orchestra Giovanile della Unione Europea (EUYO), e prima viola dei Solisti Veneti, ha svolto un'importante attività concertistica che lo ha portato nelle sale più importanti del mondo. Ha, inoltre, sviluppato con passione il suo ruolo di mentore di alcuni dei migliori giovani strumentisti oggi in attività e di alcuni ensembles tra cui spicca il nome del Cuarteto Casals e del Quartetto Adorno. Ha registrato per la Dynamic, la Stradivarius e la Tactus. La sua attività didattica lo ha portato in Europa, Svizzera, Stati Uniti, Cina Messico e Colombia. Docente della Internationale Sommerakademie presso il Mozarteum di Salisburgo dal 2004 e della Scuola di Musica di Fiesole da quaranta anni, è stato, a più riprese, tutor nella Mahler Jugend Orchester, e presso l’Accademia dell’Orchestra Mozart. Da qualche anno fa parte dello staff didattico del Royal College of Music a Londra. Dopo aver insegnato per un decennio quartetto d’archi presso la prestigiosa Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia è, oggi, titolare della Cattedra di Viola presso il Conservatorio di Stato “G.B. Martini” di Bologna. E' anche autore del testo “La viola del Pensiero” e direttore artistico del Festival Sesto Rocchi, il primo in Italia dedicato a musicisti professionali e non, di tutte le età. Per 18 anni è stato Direttore dell’Accademia Europea del Quartetto in seno all’ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy), progetto della Scuola di Musica di Fiesole per perfezionare e promuovere i giovani gruppi di musica da camera. E' attualmente Presidente di ESTA Italia European String Teachers Association. Collabora con continuità con l'Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani.

Student of Piero Farulli, viola of the legendary Quartetto Italiano and, later, of Mazumi Tanamura and Nobuko Imai, is one of the most well known violists in Italy and abroad. Member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), and first viola of the Solisti Veneti, he played an important concert activity that brought him to the most important halls in the world. He has also passionately developed his role as mentor of some of the best young instrumentalists in business today and of some ensembles among which the name of the Cuarteto Casals and the Quartetto Adorno stands out. He recorded for Dynamic, Stradivarius and Tactus. His teaching activity took him to Europe, Switzerland, the United States, China, Mexico and Colombia. Teacher at the Internationale Sommerakademie at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, he has been, on several occasions, tutor at the Mahler Jugend Orchester, and at the Academy of the Mozart Orchestra. For some years he has been part of the teaching staff of the Royal College of Music in London. After teaching string quartet for a decade at the prestigious Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia, he is today the holder of the Chair of Viola at the State Conservatory "G.B. Martini ”in Bologna. He is also the author of the text “La viola del Pensiero” and artistic director of the Sesto Rocchi Festival, the first in Italy dedicated to professional and non-professional musicians of all ages. For 18 years he was Director of the European Quartet Academy within the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy), a project of the Fiesole School of Music to perfect and promote young chamber music groups. He is currently President of ESTA Italia European String Teachers Association. He collaborates continuously with the Treccani Institute of The Italian Encyclopaedia.
